Actor Francesco Quinn passes away

THE FILM actor Francesco Quinn has passed away suddenly in California. He was 48.

Mr. Quinn, whose father was the actor Anthony Quinn, collapsed near his home in Malibu after suffering a suspected heart attack.

The star, whose credits include the film Platoon (1986) and the TV series 24 and The Shield, had voiced the character Dino in this year’s hit film Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

He was a keen cyclist and motorcyclist, and was reported to have cycled for long distances every week as part of a fitness regime.

Mr. Quinn was also involved in community work, having set up a foundation to provide opportunities in the arts for troubled youths.

He was formerly married to Julie McCann, a niece of the late snooker player Alex Higgins.
