The award winning actress Anna Massey has passed away. She was 73 and had been suffering from cancer.
She had enjoyed a long career with performances on the stage, on TV and in the cinema.
Her father was the Canadian actor Raymond Massey and the English actress Adrienne Allen, although the couple divorced when Anna Massey was a year old. Her Godfather was the film director John Ford.
Among her many awards was a Bafta for her performance as a lonely spinster in the TV adaptation of Hotel du Lac (1986).
Her film successes included Frenzy (1972) and The Tall Guy (1989).
Ms. Massey was made a C.B.E. in 2004 for her services to acting.
Her last TV appearance was in one of Jimmy McGovern’s Moving On dramas.
She is survived by her second husband, Uri Andres.
