The body of former world chess champion Bobby Fischer was exhumed in Iceland in a bid to settle a paternity claim.
Mr. Fischer, who was 64, died in 2008 without leaving a will and his estate has been the subject of several legal claims.
The paternity claim involves a 9-year-old girl from the Philippines whose mother claims she had a relationship with Mr. Fischer.
The Supreme Court in Iceland had ruled last month that the body should be exhumed so that tissue samples could be taken.
Officials say the body has already been reburied.
Mr. Fisher, who had been born in the United States, became world champion in 1972 when he defeated Boris Spassky. However, he lost the title after refusing to defend it against Anatoly Karpov in 1975.
He had moved to Iceland in 2005 after renouncing his US citizenship.
