Body of Old Etonian found at ancestral home

It is reported that John Beresford-Ash, who was well known in the Londonderry area, has died. He was in his 70s.

According to reports the body of Mr. Beresford-Ash was discovered in the grounds of his 16th. century ancestral home, Ashbrook, which is on the Ardmore Road just outside Londonderry.

It is understood a post-mortem examination is being carried out.

No other information about the death is known.

Mr. Beresford-Ash, who was an Old Etonian, came from one of the four oldest Protestant families in Northern Ireland. 

The family home, Ashbrook, was originally a gift from Queen Elizabeth I to John Beresford-Ash’s ancestor, General Thomas Ash, in grateful recognition of services rendered.
