The body of Polish President Lech Kaczynski, who was killed in a plane crash in Russia on Saturday, has been flown back home.
The President died along with 95 others when his plane crashed as it attempted to land in thick fog at Smolensk’s airport.
Among the victims was Poland’s central bank governor, the country’s army chief and a number of politicians. Mr. Kaczynski’s wife, Maria, also died.
They had been on their way to attend the 70th. anniversary of the Katyn massacre in which thousands of Poles were shot by Soviet forces.
A week of National Mourning has been declared in Poland.
Meanwhile as the investigation into the crash continues, Russian officials have revealed that the pilots of the doomed plane had been warned that they were flying too low.
