Child survives airliner crash

A 10-year-old Dutch boy is the only survivor after a passenger plane crashed in Libya killing 104 people.

The Airbus 300, being operated by Afriqiyah Airways, crashed as it was preparing to land in Tripoli. It had taken off from Johannesburg.

It has been confirmed that 61 Dutch nationals were among the victims. It is understood that a number of other passengers were booked to connect with flights to London Gatwick.

An investigation is already underway into the cause of the accident. The flight recorders have been recovered.
