Death toll is revised in Chile

Officials in Chile now believe fewer people were killed in the recent earthquake.

It had been feared that over 800 people had lost their lives in the quake which  measured 8.8 in magnitude. Government officials now say they have identified 452 victims.

It is believed that many people died in the Tsunami which struck hours after the quake.

The Chilean navy has admitted there was a ‘breakdown’ in its tsunami-alert system.

Meanwhile aid agencies say have been working to bring relief to the thousands of people left homeless by disaster.

The appeal for donations is continuing. You can donate online for the Red Cross or Save the Children.
