Former ELO musician dies in freak accident

Mike Edwards, who was a former member of the Electric Light Orchestra, has been killed in a freak road accident.

Mr. Edwards, who was 62, died when a giant hay-bale landed on his van as he was driving in Devon.

It is understood the 50-stone bail may have rolled down a field before becoming airborne and landing on Mr. Edwards’s van.

He was a founding member of the ELO and was well known for his eccentric style of cello-playing and his bizarre costumes.

Mr. Edwards performed on the band’s albums: Electric Light Orchestra II, On the Third Day, The Night The Lights Went On (In Long Beach) and Eldorado.

The musician left the group in 1975 to become a Buddhist.
