Funeral is held 8 years after death

The funeral has taken place of a woman who died in 2002.

Gladys Scriven, who was 89, died while being treated in a hospital in Manchester. However, her son refused to arrange a funeral after taking issue over the cause of death despite a pathologist ruling the death was the result of natural causes.

For the past eight years Mrs. Scriven’s remains have been kept at the North Manchester General Hospital.

Manchester City Council finally stepped in to arrange a funeral.

The service was held at the city’s Southern Cemetery.
