The funeral has taken place of the great Irish actor Mick Lally.
Mr. Lally, who was 64, was a star of stage, screen and television.
Many will remember him for his role as Miley Byrne in the long-running television series of Glenroe (RTE).
He was a co-founder of what is now the Druid Theatre in Galway in 1975.
Mr. Lally’s many stage credits included a part in the premiere of Brian Friel’s play Translations in 1980.
His film credits included Alexander (2004) and The Secret of Kells (2009), in which he was the voice of one of the animated characters.
Taoiseach Brian Cowen led tributes, describing Mr. Lally as “one of the most-loved actors of his generation who will be dearly missed by the public and his colleagues in theatre and television.”
Mr. Lally died in hospital after a short illness.
