Funeral takes place of well known local journalist

The funeral has taken place of Trevor Hanna, who was one of Northern Ireland’s most respected journalists.

Mr. Hanna, who died last weekend, was 73.

He was a former news editor of the News Letter and during a distinguished career he also worked for the Belfast Telegraph, the Daily Mail and the Daily Mirror.

Mr. Hanna went on to establish a successful and highly respected freelance news agency which supplied copy to local, national and international publications.

An old boy of Methodist College, Mr. Hanna had entered journalism in 1954 becoming a junior reporter with the News Letter.

He had worked, until recently, as a correspondent for a range of publications and broadcasting organisations.

Mr. Hanna is survived by his wife Ann, and his two sons and a daughter.

The Funeral Service was held at Roselawn Crematorium on Friday morning (February 19).
