Funeral takes place of young GAA player

The funeral has taken place of 16-year-old Patrick Dinsmore the GAA player who collapsed and died during a match.

Patrick, who lived in Warrenpoint, was just two days short of his 17th. birthday when he collapsed during the game between his home club, St. Peter’s, and neighbours St. Bronagh’s in Rostrevor. 

Many tributes have been paid to Patrick who was a talented young footballer.

Fellow pupils from St. Colman’s College in Newry were among the many mourners who attended the funeral.

Requiem Mass was held in St. Peter’s Church, Warrenpoint.  Burial took place in Warrenpoint Municpal Cemetery.

The Dinsmore family had requested donations in lieu of flowers to The Cormac Trust which was set-up following the sudden death of another young GAA player, Cormac McAnallen, in March 2004.
