Gangland killer is buried in gold coffin

One of the Australia’s most notorious killers has been burned in a gold coffin following a service in Melbourne.

Carl Williams was murdered last week in a high security prison where he had been serving three life sentences for killing underworld figures.

He had been known as the ‘smiling assassin’.

Police kept a close watch on the funeral which was attended by over a hundred people.

Williams’s ex-wife, Roberta, had arrived for the ceremony in a stretched Hummer.

The gold casket is reported to have cost around £18,000 and was apparently the same model that singer Michael Jackson was laid to rest in.
