The death has taken place in Scotland of Bob Rodwell who spent many years reporting on Northern Ireland.
Mr. Rodwell, who was 75, had been living in retirement in Kelso in recent years.
He had moved to Northern Ireland in the late 1960s to become public relations manager for the aircraft makers Shorts Brothers.
After leaving the company in 1971, Mr. Rodwell worked as a freelance journalist for many years, specializing in business and industry. He was the Ireland correspondent for the London Evening Standard for 30 years and also worked for the BBC and the Guardian.
Bob Rodwell was held in great regard by fellow journalists who often delighted in hearing him relate incidents or situations, often hilarious, in which he had found himself over the years.
He is survived by his wife Hilary and his five children, one of whom is the award winning photographer and photo-journalist, Crispin Rodwell.
