Lottery winner dies penniless

A man who won £9m on the National Lottery has died penniless in England.

Keith Gough, who was 58, won the money with his wife, Louise, in 2005.

Within months of their win the Gough’s marriage of 25 years ended in divorce.

Mr. Gough’s life had begun to spiral out of control. He had a serious drink problem while at the same time spending his money on gambling and luxuries, including flash cars and racehorses.

The final blow came when he was conned out of £700,000 by a man who was subsequently jailed.

Mr. Gough collapsed and died from a suspected heart attack which friends said had been caused by the stress of his money worries.
