Police have questioned a man about the murder of a pensioner in Belfast 21 years ago.
The arrest was made after detectives launched a new inquiry into the murder of 80-year-old Annabella Symington in the 1980s.
The pensioner was found strangled in her home at Willesden Park in the Stranmillis area on 31 October, 1989.
It was reported at the time that the widow’s evening meal was found unfinished. Two cups and saucers were also reported to have been discovered sitting on the kitchen draining board, yet neighbours had said she rarely entertained guests.
The 58-year-old man who was questioned by detectives was detained in the Carrickfergus area.
Detectives have renewed their appeal for anyone with information about the murder to contact them.
