A postmortem examination has established that Labour MP Ashok Kumar died from natural causes.
Police found the body of Mr. Kumar, who was 53, at his home in Middlesbrough on Monday (March 15).
Paramedics were called, but Mr. Kumar was pronounced dead at the scene.
He had first entered Parliament in 1991 as MP for Langbaurgh and had represented Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland since 1997.
The seat will remain vacant until the General Election.
The Prime Minister had led tributes to Mr. Kumar. Mr. Brown said he was greatly saddend by the news. He said the MP had been "a warm and incredibly generous man".
