The death has taken place of Eunice Sanborn who was regarded as the world’s oldest woman.
However, there appears to be a question mark over whether Mrs. Sanborn, who died in Texas, was 114 or 115-years-old.
Her family say the U.S. Census Bureau had mistakenly recorded Mrs. Sanborn’s date of birth as July 20, 1896 instead of 1895.
Mrs. Sanborn had lived in Jacksonville, Texas, since 1940. She had been married three times during her life. Her last husband died in 1979.
The title of the world’s oldest living woman will now go to Besse Cooper who is 114 and lives in Georgia in the United States.
