Poll shows support for burying Lenin's body

An online poll in Russia has shown a growing number of people would support plans to bury the body of Lenin.

The revolutionary leader’s embalmed body had remained on display in a mausoleum in Moscow’s Red Square since his death in 1924.

Ever since the fall of communism there have been calls for the body to be finally buried.

The online poll was organised by the country’s ruling party, United Russia.

According to party officials, 250 people have, so far, have voted in the poll.

Two thirds of these people have supported the burial plan.

United Russia is the party of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. He has always maintained that the issue of what should become of Lenin’s body is a matter for the people to decide.
