Prolific writer Penny Jordan passes away

THE author Penny Jordan, who was a prolific writer of women’s fiction, has passed away. She was 65.

Penny Jordan was the pen name of Penny Halsall, who over a 30-year career penned more than 200 books.

She was one of the most popular authors on the list of Mills & Boon with her first book with them, Falcon’s Prey, being published in 1981.

Ms. Jordan was already a published author before she became involved with Mills & Boon. She had read that the company was looking for new authors and sent in a manuscript for consideration.

Although she wrote many of her books under the Penny Jordan name, others were published under Caroline Courtney, Melinda Wright, Lydia Hitchcock and Annie Groves. It is reported she enjoyed worldwide sales of 100 million.

She received a lifetime achievement award from the Romantic Novelists’ Association in 2011.
