Second man dies after plane crash

A second man has died after the weekend crash involving a small aircraft in County Wicklow.

The single-engine plane crashed as it came in to land at a private landing strip on the Powerscourt estate in Eniskerry.

Mr. Noel Whitney, who was 66, died at the scene. The second man on board, Dr. Michael Slazenger (see photo), who was 69, died in hospital on Monday (April 12).

Dr. Slazenger, whose family was orginally behind the sportswear company which bears the family name, was piloting the plane at the time of the accident.

An air accident investigation is being carried out.
