Second victim of carbon monoxide poisoning tragedy

A carbon monoxide poisoning tragedy in County Fermanagh has claimed a second victim.

Pauline Scallon died in hospital after being found unconscious in her home last week. Her husband Killian had died at the scene.

Mrs. Scallon, who was in her 50s, had initially been treated at the Erne Hospital after being rushed from her home at Kesh Road in Irvinestown. She was later transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, where she died.

Her husband’s funeral took place at the weekend.

A postmortem examination revealed Mr. Scallon had died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Suspicious circumstances were ruled out. It is understood that experts have been examining a flue at the couple’s home which may have become blocked.
