The singer Eddie Fisher, who was popular in the 1950s, has died. He was 82.
Mr. Fisher had a number of top 40 hits over a six-year period beginning in 1950. His hits included Thinking of You, Any Time and Oh, My Pa-pa.
But despite the success of his music career, he may well be remembered for the headlines he generated with a series of marriages, and divorces, to Hollywood starlets.
In 1955 he married Debbie Reynolds who was known as ‘America’s Sweetheart’. But two years later he caused a scandal after leaving Reynolds for Elizabeth Taylor. This relationship also failed and he then married Connie Stevens.
He went on to marry twice more.
Mr. Fisher died after suffering complications following hip surgery in California.
