Star of 80s TV soap opera dies

Tributes are being paid to US actor John Forsythe who has died aged 92.

Mr. Forsythe is best remembered for his role as Blake Carrington in the 80s TV series Dynasty.

He was also well known for his involvement in another hit TV series in which he did not appear on screen. In Charlie’s Angels it was his disembodied voice, heard each week giving the ‘Angels’ their next mission, which won him more fans.

When two feature films were made based on the TV characters, Mr. Forsythe reprised his role.

He also appeared in a number of films, including Alfred Hitchcock’s Topaz.

Among those to pay tribute to the actor was Joan Collins, who starred with Mr. Forsythe in Dynasty. “He was one of the last of the true gentlemen of the acting profession”, said Ms. Collins.
