Town prepares to honour fallen soldier

The funeral service for Lieutenant Neal Turkington, who was killed in Afghanistan earlier this month, is to take place in his home town of Portadown.

Lt. Turkington, who was 26, died along with two colleagues from 1st. Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles when a renegade Afghan soldier opened fire at a security base in Helmand province on July 13.

The Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday (August 3) in St. Mark’s Parish Church in Portadown.

Donations in lieu of flowers have been requested for the Gurkha Benevolent Fund.
