Tragic motorcycle racer is laid to rest

HUNDREDS of mourners attended the Funeral of tragic motorcycle racer Wayne Hamilton.

20-year-old Mr. Hamilton, who lived in Craigavon, died after crashing while taking part in the Junior Manx Grand Prix on the Isle of Mann last week (August 29).

He had been regarded as one of the best up-and-coming young riders in the sport. He had made his road racing debut at the Bush Road Races in 2009 and immediately made his mark — setting a lap record while winning the Junior Support race.

On the Saturday before the tragic accident Mr. Hamilton had won the Newcomers’ race at the Max Grand Prix event.

Many tributes were been paid to the young rider.

When his body was returned to Northern Ireland on Sunday (September 4) hundeds of bikers escorted the cortege to Craigavon.

Mr. Hamilton was buried following Requiem Mass in St. Anthony’s Church, Craigavon (see below).
