TRIBUTES have been paid to the actor Paul Bhattacharjee who has passed away at the age of 53.
Mr. Bhattacharjee, who lived in Redbridge, London, had enjoyed success on the stage and in television and films.
Among his television appearances was as the character Inzamam Ahmed in the BBC soap EastEnders. He appeared in the show for a number of episodes broadcast between 2008 and 2010. Other work in television included appearances in The Bill, New Tricks, Spooks and The Fixer.
His film credits include Casino Royale (2006), which starred Daniel Craig as James Bond. Mr. Bhattacharjee also appeared in Dirty Pretty Things (2002) and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011).
On stage, he appeared opposite Meera Syal in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Much Ado About Nothing (see below).
He had been due to star in the play Talk Show at the Royal Court Theatre in London. However, his role was recast after he was reported missing.
Mr. Bhattacharjee’s body was found at Splash Point cliffs in Seaford, East Sussex.
