TRIBUTES have been paid to the actor Paul Walker who was killed along with a friend in a car crash. He was 40.
Mr. Walker, who will be best remembered for his role in the Fast & Furious films, was a passenger in the sports car which crashed near Los Angeles.
From appearing in ads as a toddler, he went on to build a career in acting — making early appearances on such shows as Programmed To Kill, Throb and Charles In Charge in the 1980s.
During the 1990s he continued to get guest roles in a range of TV shows including The Young and the Restless and The Boys Are Back, before beginning to break into films. Early movie appearances included Varsity Blues (1998), She’s All That (1999) and The Skulls (2000).
However, his big breakthrough in films came after he won the role of Brian O’Connor in the Fast & Furious movies. His first outing in the role was in The Fast and the Furious (2001). He went on to star in a further four of the movies and had been filming for Fast & Furious 7 which will be released next year.
Other recent film credits included Vehicle 19 (2013), Hours (2013), Pawn Shop Chronicles (2013) and Brick Mansions which is due for release in 2014.
His co-star in the Fast & Furious movies, Vin Diesel, was among the many people to pay tribute to the actor. He said: “Brother, I will miss you. My heart is hurting so bad. Paul was a good man.”
Another co-star, Jordana Brewster, also paid tribute, saying: “Paul was pure light. I cannot believed he is gone”.
A statement released on the star’s Facebook page said he had been in the area where the fatal accident occurred to attend a charity event for his organisation Reach Out Worldwide. Mr. Walker had worked with the organisation in 2010 to offer assistance to survivors of earthquakes in Chile and Haiti.
