Tributes have been paid to the actress Margaret John who has died aged 84.
The Welsh-born actress had enjoyed a successful career on stage, radio, TV and screen.
Her most recent work included playing Doris in the popular BBC series Gavin and Stacey.
The role of the cannabis-smoking, sometimes raunchy, neighbour won her many new fans.
Ms. John’s many television credits included Crossroads, Coronation Street, Z-Cars and Emmerdale.
Among those who paid tribute to the actress was Rob Brydon who starred with her in Gavin and Stacey.
He said: “What a wonderful person she was. Everyone on Gavin and Stacey adored her”.
The actress Ruth Madoc described Margaret John as a “Welsh icon”.
She added: “Margaret had a wonderful sense of humour. I always looked up to her.”
