Many tributes have been paid following the death of Keith Alexander, who was manager of Macclesfield Town football club and a former player with Cliftonville in Belfast.
Mr. Alexander, who was 53, dropped dead at home after returning from his team’s League Two clash with Notts County.
He played for Cliftonville during the 1994-1995 season. In a statement Club Chairman, Gerard Lawlor, paid tribute to their former player.
“His name will always be synonymous with Cliftonville Football Club for anyone who was lucky enough to have seen him play for us”, said Mr. Lawlor. “Not only did he score on his debut, but his ability, experience and guidance helped transform our season”.
Macclesfield Town Football Club described him as a splendid man who will be sorely missed by everyone involved in football.
Mr. Alexander had suffered a brain aneurysm in 2003, but had battled back to return to the game he loved.
