TRIBUTES have been paid to singer Joan Regan who passed away at the age of 85.
The British singer had enjoyed success on both sides of the Atlantic. Her first hit record, Ricochet (see below), was released in 1953. Among her other recordings were If I Give My Heart To You (1954) and May You Always (1959), see below.
At the height of her fame in Britain she had her own show on the BBC, Be My Guest. She also made many appearances on TV in America.
Ms Regan also appeared regularly at the London Palladium in shows which featured other performers such as Cliff Richard, Max Bygraves and Russ Conway, who had been her rehearsal pianist in the early 1950s.
After her career began to slow down in Britain, Ms. Regan moved to the United States and lived for a time in Florida.
In 1984, she suffered a serious head injury after slipping in the shower. The injury left her paralysed and without speech. But Ms. Regan battled back to make a full recovery and return to the stage. She also returned to the recording studio in the early 1990s and released two albums — The Joan Regan Collection and Remember I Love You (1996).
