Tributes are paid to the oldest UK Tweeter

Tributes have been paid to the country’s oldest Tweeter Ivy Bean who has died aged 104.

Mrs. Bean, who lived in Bradford, had 56,000 followers on Twitter.

Her fans included the singer Peter Andre, actor Stephen Fry and former deputy Prime Minster John Prescott.

The pensioner had joined Twitter in 2008. Her tweets were about her daily life  and her friends.

Peter Andre had met Mrs. Bean last year, and had telephoned her hours before her death.  He said she “was a lovely woman who had a brilliant sense of humour.”

Mrs. Bean had not been put off by technology. She had joined Facebook when she was 96 and was soon receiving thousands of messages a day.
