Three people have died in weekend road accidents in Northern Ireland.

The victims died in separate accidents.

The first to die was Kilcoo man Peter Francis Devlin when the car he was travelling in was involved in a collision with a lorry on the Belfast to Downpatrick Road on Saturday afternoon.

The father-of-six had apparently been returning home after visiting a friend in Crossgar when the accident happened. The driver of the lorry and a passenger were treated for shock following the crash.

On Saturday evening the second fatal accident occurred, when Martin Walls, who was 45, was struck by a car as he walked along the Dublin Road near Kilcoo.

Mr. Walls lived in nearby Hilltown.

The PSNI say the car involved overturned. The driver of the vehicle was treated for injuries.

The third victim of the weekend accidents was 49-year-old Helena Anna Ciesielska, who was the passenger on a motorcycle which crashed in Glengormley on Sunday morning.

The accident happened on the Hightown Road at 11 a.m.

Ms. Ciesielska lived in the Hightown Road area.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the accidents to contact them.

These deaths bring to 11 the number of people to die on the roads in Northern Ireland so far this year.
