Well known gospel singer Jessy Dixon passes away

THE GOSPEL singer and songwriter Jessy Dixon has passed away. He was 73.

Mr. Dixon, who was born in San Antonio in the United States, toured extensively outside of his home country.

Over a career which spanned more than 50 years, Mr. Dixon enjoyed success with a number of songs including I Love To Praise His Name, Sit At His Feet and Be Blessed.

He wrote You Will Bring The Sun Out for Diana Ross, but it was R&B singer Randy Crawford who turned it into a hit. Other singers who performed his work include Natalie Cole and Cher.

Mr. Dixon spent more than five years in Billboard’s gospel music charts after releasing I am Redeemed (see below).

During his career he wrote more than 200 songs, some of them have become classics in gospel music.

Mr. Dixon had been ill and passed away at his home in Chicago.
