Young child is among flu victims in Northern Ireland

A 7-year-old child is among those who have died from swine flu in Northern Ireland.

Health officials say a total of 14 people have lost their lives since the beginning of November 2010 until January 6.

Ten of the victims are said to have had underlying medical conditions.

However, experts are still trying to establish if there were any underlying problems present in the remaining four victims.

The oldest victim was aged 67

The number of people being treated for flu has increased over the past  week.

The Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland said 185 patients were now receiving treatment.

Officials have reassured people that there is no shortage of the flu vaccine.

Meanwhile the Government’s continuing its flu advertising campaign (see photo above) to encourage people to Catch It, Bin It, Kill It.
