Jack Duddy was for many years a respected public relations manager for the Gallaher company.
Part of his job involved bringing top-class golfers to Northern Ireland to take part in the Gallaher Ulster Open.
The competition was held at the Shandon Park course from 1965-1970 and at Malone in 1971.
When the troubles resulted in some professional golfers becoming reluctant to come to Northern Ireland, Mr. Duddy was credited with successfully persuading many to make the journey.
He remained a keen golfer and was a member of both Malone and Royal County Down clubs.
Mr. Duddy was one of the founding members of the Northern Ireland Press Golf Society and was a serving vice-president.
He was also an Honorary Member of The Belfast Musical Festival.
