William James (Bill) Purdon, late of Ipswich, Suffolk and formerly of Rosebery Road, Belfast, passed away on April 19, aged 93. Son of the late Benjamin and Isabella, and much loved brother of Noel and the late Lily, Edmund and Kathleen. In 1942, aged 19, Bill enlisted in the Irish Guards and served with the 1st. Battalion in Tunisia, Italy (Anzio), Palestine and Libya. At the end of his army service in 1949 he settled in Suffolk with his wife Murial (Tooty). From time to time he visited Northern Ireland, keeping in touch with his Family. The Funeral will take place in Ipswich on Monday (May 9). Deeply regretted by all the Family in Northern Ireland.
